It has been a crazy 3 weeks since we picked Blu up and brought him home. I have been up every 2-3 hours most nights so he can go outside to do his business, so I am crazy sleep deprived. Throw Christmas into the mix, and trying to keep him from destroying the Christmas tree, and I am exhausted!
Blu was already 20 lbs when we picked him up. I was shocked the first time I tried to lift him. He is totally treat driven and loves to eat. I weighed him the other day and he was already up to 27 lbs. It is hard to know how big he will get as his dad was quite small. Hopefully he will be closer to his mom’s (German Shephard) size when he matures.
Blue had a play date with one of his litter mates, Bear. Bear has much longer fur and is a bit shorter than Blu. They played non stop for 4 hours, then everyone crashed. They both slept really well that night.
Pete was pretty jealous of the attention given to the new puppy when he arrived. He still has his moments, but now the two of them are best buddies.
Blu’s Mischief so far…
- Climbing along the back of the couch and under the coffee table
- Peeing on the floor when no one is looking
- Heading downstairs to poop on the carpeted landing
- Stealing all Pete’s toys and destroying several of them
- Chewing the zipper off my jacket
- pulling all the lower decorations off the Christmas tree and peeing on the presents
- Sharp baby teeth – biting everything – especially me!
How Blu makes up for all his mischief…
- Loving cuddles with us and with Pete
- requests for belly rubs
- going straight into his crate at bed time (as long as there is a treat involved)
- being so damned ADORABLE!!!
I really didn’t expect a new puppy to be so much work! But Blu is worth it. I better take him outside again…
