Pregnant Goats are doing well

I received an update from Mallory at The Goat Patch with new photos of our two goats, Juniper and Jolene. They are happy and healthy and should be having their kids next month.

Soon we will be able to bring them home with their babies…

Progress back at the Ranch

Their goat house is almost ready for them. All I have left to do is build them some “bunk beds” and attach the hay feeder to the wall.

We will be building permanent fencing once the ground thaws out. And of course there will be a goat playground area for the kids.

Side Note

You can see the Chicken tractor behind the goat house. That is what I was working on when I was attacked by the table saw. My fingers are healing up, but I am not sure if I will be keeping the finger nail on my middle finger… The saw went thru the base of it.

But the chicken tractor is finished now. The best part was that Trevor and Melissa did all the lap joints for me while my fingers recovered. We will add a tarp before we put chickens into it. We plan to use it to raise some meat birds this summer. It has wheels on the back and a rope up front, so we can move it to fresh grass each day.

  1. Things are looking good Laurie! Hope you’re enjoying the new changes in your life style and this new adventure of rural farm living. I bet you very rarely think of us back here in BC. Miss your face!

  2. So sorry about your fingers – you sound like a legit farm girl though. Your taste is amazing Laurie – your home, the goats’ home, all of it. Edmonton had never been on my bucket list until now. So happy to see you living your dream.

  3. Looks like your chicken tractor turned out pretty good. I follow the fella who made that design. Pretty solid! I made poly tractors

    1. I remember seeing your tractor on your Facebook posts last summer. Yours looks nice and light weight. I bet your tractor is much easier to move.
