Kidding Pens Ready

birthing pen

Our 4 mature Kiko does are getting very pregnant, they are due in early April. It is time to set up the kidding Pens.

The Portable Fence Panels

We were able to fit 3 kidding pens into a 12 by 12 foot horse stall. These portable fence panels are so handy. I purchased them from Ranchmart.ca, but similar ones should be available in your area.

In addition to making kidding stalls, these panels are great for sectioning off a pasture, or creating a shute to move the goats. When we first brought home our goats these were the only fences we had. See https://titanranch.ca/goat-arrival-lots-of-goats-at-our-house-our-2-does-and-4-kids-plus-some-hitchhiker-goats/

Setting up the kidding Pens

The Goat kidding Pens will only be in use for a week or two, so we didn’t need to permanently affix them to the stall walls. Like any good farmer, I used Screw eyes, baling twine and zip ties.

They need straw bedding, Hay, water and food. I think the kidding stalls are ready.

The ladies are getting Large

The 4 pregnant does are starting to look really large and uncomfortable, especially Jolene. She had triplets last year and looks like she will do it again.

Jolene

They are all definitely showing baby bumps.

Juniper only had one kid last year, and it looks like she might have a single again.

Lily and Luna are first time mom’s. They are both bigger than their momma’s to start with, so it is hard to tell, but I am guessing they will each have twins. They were our babies 2 years ago and are quite spoiled.

I will let you know when the kids arrive!
